Dragon Fans Out For Our Winter of Discontent
Admittedly, we’ve let our action figures section tail off of late, largely because there really hasn’t been anything to crow about lately. Well, the dry spell seems to have run its course and now it appears as if a truly awe-inspiring product is about to see the light of day. According to Dragon, their 13th Anniversary figure, “Igor Ivanovich Bazarov”, is nearing release, and already looks to be a winner (DRF70385). This all-new light machine gunner comes complete with an Aerosan RF-8 which is a type of propeller-driven snowmobile, running on skis, used for communications, mail deliveries, medical aid, emergency recovery and border patrolling in northern Russia, as well as for recreation. Aerosanis were used by the Soviet Red Army during the Winter War and World War II.
According to research, the first aerosanis may have been built between 1903-05 by Sergei Nezhdanovsky. In 1909–10 young Igor Sikorsky tested self designed aerosani, before he built multi-engine airplanes and helicopters. They were very light plywood vehicles on skis, propelled by old airplane engines and propellers.
Priced at $269.99, this is a marvelous way of reintroducing enthusiasts to the world of action figures and a terrific centerpiece to anyone’s military replica collection.
Oxford Aviation Fires Up its First Jet
Making its first appearance at the tail end of WWII, the Gloster Meteor was immediately pressed into service as a means of defeating the Third Reich’s V-1 onslaught. Now, Oxford Aviation has replicated this marvelous aircraft, which comes complete with a bonus 1:72 scale V-1 Doodlebug, all for the low, low price of just $19.99 (#OXFAC031). A better bargain can’t be had anywhere on the net!
Century Wings Closes Out the Year on a High Note
No stranger to the world of high-flying replicas, Century Wings has at last released a pair of SR-71A Blackbirds into the retail channel. Depicting two reconnaissance aircraft that were attached to the 9th Strategic Reconnaissance Wing, deployed out of Kadena AB, Alaska, in 1977, these “fast-movers” are living up to their nickname, quite literally flying off the shelves (#CW001211 & #CW001228).
We’re not sure if Century Wings will ever revisit the SR-71 considering that they’re under new management, so now might be a good time to scrutinize these Cold War warriors before they fly off into history.
Minichamps Shows Off its Latest Creation
Just weeks after they rolled out their 1:12 scale BSA Rocket 3 motorcycle in red, comes scintillating photos for their upcoming version in royal blue (#MIN122130101). Expected to hit the streets in early December, their latest take on “the Rocket” still carries a pre-order price of just $129.99 – $144.99 if you wait until it actually comes out. If you’re not familiar with the Minichamps street bikes, then you really owe yourself a look at one of these beauties or visit any of the diecast motorcycle forums to gauge consumer sentiment.

Hobby Master Doubles Down for the Holidays
In less than a week, we’ve now received our November as well as December shipments of Hobby Master products, due, in large part, to the delay affecting the November shipment. Lots of new armor and military aircraft are now in stock that are sure to pique everyone’s interest, including this fascinating 1:48 scale replica of Lt. Cdr. Roger Hedrick’s F4U-1D Corsair (#HA8206).
Also in the mix are the long awaited Panzerstahl limited edition range, which are sure to look great under the Christmas tree, hanging in a stocking. or simply sitting in a display cabinet. Enjoy!
Auld Lang Simoncelli?
Minichamps North America has confirmed that they will be receiving the highly coveted 2011 Marco Simoncelli MotoGP bike on the last week of 2012, with a shipment expected to hit our dock the first week of January (#MIN122111158). Again, we are pre-sold out of this tribute bike, so if you were lucky enough to get in on the ground floor by pre-ordering early, then 2013 is going to be a very good year indeed.
When One Falls, Another Rises
With the discontinuation of the X-Plus Heavy Metal Collection of diecast military aircraft, comes news that a new model maker is poised to take their place. According to reports surfacing around the web, Air Commander Heavy Metal Collection has sprung up to fill the void, and will likely pick up where its predecessor left off. We hear that a 1:72 scale F-4 Phantom is in the works, which comes as no surprise since the designer of the X-Plus F-4 Phantoms is behind the Air Commander version.
We hope to have more concrete information concerning this new development in the week ahead and will post the information just as soon as it becomes move evident.
