Although it may not look like much, salvage operators extricated a downed German Do 17 light bomber from its watery grave. Nestled in the muddy bottom of the English Channel, this unidentified bomber was reportedly shot down during the Battle of Britain around the latter half of 1940. According to researchers, this is the only surviving example of the rare Dornier Do 17z light bomber, which aviation museums worldwide have sought to add to their collection.  According to the Mirror, a UK-based publication, historians hope to restore this aircraft to pristine condition in approximately two years, and will likely be featured at the Duxford Museum.
