Oxford Shows Why Its a Force to be Reckoned With in 2015

DT001

Oxford revealed details concerning some of their newest diecast military vehicles and aircraft collectors can expect to see well into 2015. On the ground, look forward to monkeying around with a 1:76 scale replica of a Diamond T tank transporter that was used throughout the ETO during WWII.

In the air, several warbirds were unveiled, including Alexander Pokryshkin’s world-famous P-39 Airacobra that was employed on the eastern front. Please keep in mind that many of these items aren’t slated to hit the market until well into 2015, making them tantalizing if unattainable additions for several months running.

News Flash: We Are a Retailer!

Supply Chain

As we approach the hectic holiday season, we thought it made sense to once again point out where we stand in the collectible supply chain. Now celebrating our fifteenth year of doing business, some people often times think that, in addition to being an online retailer, we are both a distributor or a manufacturer. Ladies and gents, we are a RETAILER. This means that we work with a group of upstanding distributors who import product into our country from all across the globe. If we run out of an item, it usually means that our principal supplier has also run out of the item in question. So, we must wait until they receive their next shipment of the item before we can once again fill orders. For some inexplicable reason, some people aren’t grasping this basic concept. We don’t press a button and automatically get restocked the day after we run out of inventory.

PS89007

Let’s look at the Panzerstahl T-28 super heavy tank as our prime example. We received this item way back in April of this year and I believe we ran out of it in early May. Based upon pre-orders, we did our best to forecast how many we would need using a formula and submitted our order accordingly. Now, some people decided to place their order days or weeks after we received our shipment, no doubt waiting to hear what other early adopters thought of the item. When we attempted to place a replenishment order, based upon growing consumer demand, our supplier indicated the next shipment was expected in June. June has since slipped into October, so that their next shipment could also include the manufacturer’s next two products in the series. Keep in mind that these items are shipped to our distributor by boat, not airplane, in order to reduce overall shipping costs and only after they clear customs and get checked in do they then get shipped to us.

During this time frame, we have received innumerable phone calls and emails asking about this item and why it hasn’t returned to stock yet. Guys, we are a RETAILER. We have to wait, just like you, for the item to arrive. We don’t like to disappoint, but the fact remains that if you do not order early, and dally with your purchasing decisions, then there isn’t a whole lot we can do about it except to explain this scenario over and over again. So please, order early and use a credit card. This way you do not get charged for the item until it ships out to you and you are more than likely going to get your prized collectible on the first go round instead of having to wait months on end, staring at that vacant space in your collection as it gathers dust. Capiche?

Luft-X Calls Up Two More Exotic Warbirds

Luft004

Earlier today, we were informed that newcomer Luft-X will be producing another pair of secret weapons of the Luftwaffe intended for a February release. One will be a Ho 229 fighter bomber, while the second is a Focke Wulf Triebflugel Interceptor.

Luft003

Constructed out of resin and bearing exacting detail, Luft-X has quickly positioned itself as a dominant force to be reckoned with, willing to take chances by offering replicas of some of the more exotic aircraft of WWII.

Corgi Takes a Dip with the Short Sunderland

Sunderland

Normally, around this time of year, Corgi takes the wraps off of their latest lineup of Aviation Archive aircraft. Thus far, they’ve been mum, perhaps because they would like to include the latest “heavy” in their full-color catalog. Earlier today, the manufacturer released a work-in-progress shot of their upcoming 1:72 scale Short Sunderland Flying Boat, bereft of its final coat of paint, insignia and other accessories. Still, its does give collectors some idea as to the size of this beast, which comes hot-on-the-heels of the release of their first ever 1:72 scale Avro Vulcan bomber. Our guess? Expect the catalog some time in November and the Flying Boat towards the latter half of 2015.

Dragon: The M1 Makes a Return Engagement

CAN20041

Some times we’re left scratching our heads when long sold out inventory mysteriously reappears. In the case of Dragon, the manufacturer has indicated that they are receiving a restock of their highly sought after 1:144 scale M1 Abrams tank assortment later this month, perhaps the first indication that their Can.Do lineup could be reinvigorated. Even if it doesn’t signal the range’s return, the fact that the Abrams tanks will once again become available is certainly good news for collectors, making excellent stocking stuffers this holiday season.

DRR60607

In other news, Dragon has confirmed that their 1:72 scale Ka-Mi amphibious vehicle with pontoons (#DRR60607) is now en route to us and expected later next week. A similarly constructed light green variant will likely show some time in November.

Eaglemoss Informs and Delights

Warships Magazine

We were pleasantly surprised to see how the packaging turned out for Eaglemoss’ new Warships of the World Series. Nestled in a bookcase style outer box, each ship also comes complete with a multi-page, full color magazine which discusses the warship in question. While it is written in Japanese, the magazine has loads of pictures and charts that come as a free value-added feature with each purchase. We hear that the entire line may span some 100 ships or more, making this one of the most prolific looks at warships of the twentieth century.

Air Force 1 Aims High This December

AF1M36

According to sources, Air Force 1 has several key aircraft introductions pegged for a December ship. Aviation buffs can look forward to grabbing the stick of a Lockheed-Martin USMC F-35B and US Navy F-35C Joint Strike Fighter, which will no doubt sport differing in-flight profiles due to their intrinsic differences for both military branches.

AF10007A

Also on the drawing boards are a General Dynamics F-16C and F-16D Falcon fighter, the latter a two-seat Block 25 variant that boasted improved cockpit avionics and radar which added all-weather capability with beyond-visual-range (BVR) AIM-7 and AIM-120 air-air missiles. All four new items have now been listed on our web site.

Panzerstahl: Tanks for the Memories

PS89009

Maybe I’m dating myself, but the very first fully assembled replica caisson I remember purchasing some fifty or so years ago was a Roco Tank depicting the British Conqueror heavy tank. It was plastic, needed to be painted and could easily be trampled by the family pet, but still there was something about it that captured my heart and imagination. Needless to say, the keepsake has since gone the way of my baseball cards, Matchbox cars and comic books, but it nevertheless made an indelible mark on my childhood memories that I won’t soon forget.

PS89008

It is therefore with some trepidation and a fair bit of anxiety that I await the arrival of Panzerstahl’s rendition of a  1:72 scale Conqueror. Constructed out of sturdy resin and bearing all of the hallmark details that have come to be associated with their highly successful World of Tanks line, the Conqueror, along with the Russian Object 704 heavy tank destroyer and restock of the US T-28 super heavy tank form an especially strong lineup for our October releases, and will no doubt be sought after this holiday season by collectors worldwide.

Hobby Master: Ever Vigilant(e)?

Vigilante

According to one popular diecast collector forum, Hobby Master intends to produce 1:72 scale replicas of the North American A-5 Vigilante Nuclear Strike Bomber. Deployed aboard several aircraft carriers during the 1960s, the Vigilante saw extensive service during the Vietnam War in the tactical strike reconnaissance role. If the rumor can be substantiated, it appears as if the Vigilante is scheduled to release in early 2015, with other new carrier-based aviation assets not too far behind.
