Air Force 1 Aims High This December

According to sources, Air Force 1 has several key aircraft introductions pegged for a December ship. Aviation buffs can look forward to grabbing the stick of a Lockheed-Martin USMC F-35B and US Navy F-35C Joint Strike Fighter, which will no doubt sport differing in-flight profiles due to their intrinsic differences for both military branches.

Also on the drawing boards are a General Dynamics F-16C and F-16D Falcon fighter, the latter a two-seat Block 25 variant that boasted improved cockpit avionics and radar which added all-weather capability with beyond-visual-range (BVR) AIM-7 and AIM-120 air-air missiles. All four new items have now been listed on our web site.

War Master Continues to Fire on all Cylinders

Looking to bolster their already strong lineup, War Master announced four more 1:72 scale military vehicles for a November assault. Expected are a USMC M41 A3 Walker Bulldog, Japanese Chi-Fa medium tank, German Steyr 1500/A01 with 2cm FlaK 38 Gun, and a German Bergepather recovery vehicle. Boasting realistic detailing, acrylic cases with etched bases and numbered limited edition cards, you simply cannot go wrong with this line. Oh, and did we mention they are still affordably priced at just $19.99 apiece?

New Line: Wings of the Great War

Perhaps it was fitting that 100 years after the start of the Great War, a new modelmaker would toss its’ ‘hat in the ring’, pardon the pun. Newcomer Wings of the Great War has announced plans to develop an extensive range of 1:72 scale World War I-inspired aircraft, crafted in resin and bearing all of the hallmark detail that went into these “wooden wonders-of-the-sky.”

Each will come with a fully articulated display stand that allows for full freedom-of-movement so the collector can display each aircraft in multiple poses. According to the sales literature, no more than 500 pieces of each aircraft will be built, making them highly coveted collectables in the years-to-come. The first four aircraft are slated to take to the sky this October.

Eaglemoss Reloaded

Fans of Eaglemoss Collections will certainly have lots to cheer about this October as several new 1:43 scale as well as 1:72 scale military vehicles are expected to roll out. In the 1:43 scale regime, look forward to seeing a British Humber armored car, US Dodge WC 63 6×6 truck, German 250/9 half-track, Italian AS-42 Sahariana armored car, US Dodge WC 57 command car, German Pz IV Ausf. G medium tank, and Russian Katyusha rocket launcher.

In the 1:72 scale ranks, you can expect to see a T-40 amphibious scout tank, T-26 light tank, T-35 super heavy tank, a pair of armored cars, and a mean dose of post-war military vehicles. Best of all, the price has dropped on the 1:43 scale line to just $21.99 apiece, making these pieces extra special additions to anyone’s warmongering museum.

Aviation 72 Throttles Up for the Holidays

There was a time when we were wondering if we were ever going to see Aviation 72’s long promised aerial armada. Now that their first flock of warbirds has seeded the clouds, it appears as if several more are right behind them this holiday season.

The second iteration of the Saab Draken is based upon a plane that served with Sweden’s 10/02 squadron (#AV7241002).

Also up for consideration is their second and third looks at the Saab Viggen fighter, which are both scheduled for an imminent takeoff (#AV7242002 and AV7242002).

These and other new introductions are now up for pre-order.

New Line: Modelcollect

With events in the Ukraine heating up, it should surprise no one that a new line of 1:72 scale military vehicles has surfaced that perhaps plays up to the “Russian Bear.” Modelcollect is touting a brand new line of military vehicles that are based upon the ubiquitous T-72 tank and its many derivatives, along with several newer armor that has come to the fore in recent years. We expect to take delivery of this range some time in September.

Dragon’s 1:72 Panther Ausf. D Medium Tank is Back in the Fight

Announced some time ago, it appears as if Dragon’s 1:72 Panther Ausf. D medium tank is back on the shipping schedule, with a tentative release date of October. On a personal note, this particular vehicle is of interest to me, since it could very well be similar to the mount of our distant cousin Jurgen Dultz, a panzer ace and Oberleutnant with the Grossdeutschland Division, who was a winner of the PKA II. Stufe “25”.

Hobby Master Shows Us Their Sack ‘o Goodies for December

Hobby Master recently unveiled their December offerings, which cover everything from a NASA-inspired F-15D Eagle fighter (#HA4503) to a signed 1:48 scale P-47 Thunderbolt (#HA8450) flown by Colonel Steve Pisanos.

All of their latest introductions have now been listed in their respective sections and we hope to take delivery of their December cache before Santa shimmies down the chimney.

Century Wings Gets in the Holiday Spirit

Despite the warm summer weather, Century Wings unveiled its latest addition to its growing fleet of replica warbirds – a “Santa Cat”. For those of you unfamiliar with the term, a “Santa Cat” replaces the VF-103 “Jolly Rogers” familiar Skull-and-Crossbones logo with candy canes and a skull donning a floppy santa claus cap (#CW001613).

The new, holiday-inspired warbird is being billed as Century Wings last release of the year and will reportedly touch down in November. Only 1,200 pieces are being produced and carries a retail price of $145.

Dragon Decides to Wage a Two-Front War

Dragon never ceases to amaze and their two newest Dragon Armor pieces should serve as a mute testament to their cause. Expected in September are a 1:72 scale rendition of a Japanese Ka-Mi amphibious tan sporting floating pontoons (#DRR60607) and a repainted PzKpfw III Ausf. M medium tank (#DRR60579) which served in southern Russia during 1943.

We expect further product announcements in the weeks to come.
