When Unimax decided to discontinue their highly successful Bravo Team line of 1:18 scale plastic vehicles and figures back in 2012, we were stymied The range sold well, and was the perfect entree for younger enthusiasts to get their hands on something big and beefy in the military arena. Fortunately, Unimax has done an about face and plans to relaunch the line beginning in May. The same WWII era vehicles previously available are being reintroduced, along with two separate figure packs — one German and one American — with each figure boasting 18 points of articulation and loads of weaponry. Keep in mind shipping costs have gone up considerably over the past twelve months, so the best way to ship these vehicles across the Continental US is with UPS Ground service. For collectors living outside the US, well, get ready to fork over some hefty dough in order to take delivery.

Unimax 'Flies Like an Eagle'
Pictures are finally circulating for Unimax upcoming 1:72 scale rendition of an F-15E Strike Eagle. Based upon a bird flown by the 391st Fighter Squadron, 366th Fighter Wing, out of Mountain Home AFB, Arkansas (#UNI85081), their first-ever Strike Eagle will come with a complete load out of air-to-ground and air-to-air weaponry, and boasts much the same hi-fidelity detail and features that has made its previous F/A-18s and F/A-14s hot amongst the diecast community. Painted in a dull grey low-vis camouflage scheme, look for the Strike Eagle to make a June sortie unless they’re called into action sooner.

Unimax Begins its 2013 Barrage
Barely a week after they attended the American International Toy Fair here in New York City, Unimax, the makers of the Forces of Valor series, has indicated that the first wave of 2013 products are now shipping. Of note is their 1:32 scale replica of a US 105mm field howitzer M2A1 with three crewmen (#UNI81013) and, of course, their first look at the F/A-18F Super Hornet, scaled at 1:72 (#UNI85064). A number of other important items are returning to stock after a brief hiatus, including their 1:72 scale take on the AH-1Z Cobra attack helicopter (#UNI85074).
Unimax Decides Upon Some Name Dropping for 2013
Recognizing that a legendary ace helps to spur sales, Unimax has decided to leverage two venerable names from the pages of military history for their early 2013 range. Armor enthusiasts should have no trouble with the name Otto Carius, the diminutive panzer ace who commanded both a TIger I heavy tank and later a Jagdtiger heavy tank destroyer. Their latest 1:32 scale Jagdtiger (#UNI80078) bears his turret identification number ‘201’, which was attached to schwere panzerjager abteilung 512 in the waning stages of WWII.
Also expected is Unimax’ first ever 1:72 scale rendition of a McDonnell F-4J Phantom II fighter-bomber, which bears the ignominious number “100” on its fuselage, signalling its place in history as “Showtime 100” (UNI85021). Piloted by Randy “Duke” Cunningham, this F-4 was famously connected with the supposed North Vietnamese ace, Colonel Toon, during the latter stages of the Vietnam Conflict. Look for both new entrants later this spring.
Unimax Puts to Sea with the British Admiralty
As part of their early 2013 lineup, Unimax, the makers of the Forces of Valor military vehicle, aircraft and warship range, have announced plans to offer a 1:700 scale reproduction of the HMS Ark Royal (91) (UNI86007). Bundled with all sorts of early WWII-era aircraft such as the Fairey Swordfish, their latest addition to their fleet of diecast warships will probably set sail some time in April. The pre-order window is now open and we hope to have some additional product announcements up shortly.

Forces of Valor Chases Down Fireflies
Its been a long time coming, but Forces of Valor has finally decided to modify some of their existing molds in order to come out with completely new vehicles. In the case of their M4 Sherman tooling, the Company has replaced the standard M4A3 Sherman turret with an upgunned Firefly version, typical of the type used by British forces as they marched across northwestern Europe during the latter half of 1944. We hear that other revitalized toolings are in the works, all designed to breathe new life into this stalwart military range.
