Making its first appearance at the tail end of WWII, the Gloster Meteor was immediately pressed into service as a means of defeating the Third Reich’s V-1 onslaught. Now, Oxford Aviation has replicated this marvelous aircraft, which comes complete with a bonus 1:72 scale V-1 Doodlebug, all for the low, low price of just $19.99 (#OXFAC031). No stranger to the world of high-flying replicas, Century Wings has at last released a pair of SR-71A Blackbirds into the retail channel. Depicting two reconnaissance aircraft that were attached to the 9th Strategic Reconnaissance Wing, deployed out of Kadena AB, Alaska, in 1977, these “fast-movers” are living up to their nickname, quite literally flying off the shelves (#CW001211 & #CW001228).
We’re not sure if Century Wings will ever revisit the SR-71 considering that they’re under new management, so now might be a good time to scrutinize these Cold War warriors before they fly off into history.
